A590 Levens closed and air ambulance on the scene after the accident of a concrete mixer
A major road in Cumbria was closed in both directions after a road collision involving a concrete mixer.
An air ambulance and Cumbria Police officers were called onto the A590 at Levens.
The incident occurred between the B5277 (Meathop Roundabout) and the A6 (Levens Hall) near the Gilpin Bridge Inn.

The Inrix traffic monitoring service reports that an air ambulance is present and the collision affects motorists traveling between the Newby Bridge and the Brettargh Holt roundabout.
Detours are in place and drivers are advised to seek alternative routes through Windermere.
The incident was first reported shortly before 10 a.m. today (August 16).
A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: “We are currently facing a traffic accident on the A590 near Gilpin Bridge Inn.
“The road is currently closed in both directions, closures are in place at the Meathop roundabout and Newby Bridge.
“Please look for alternative routes, via Windermere.”
